Who We Are
Pacific Life Eco-tours is a sailing and marine science adventure for families, and people of all ages. More than a nature watch, Pacific Life Eco-tours brings marine biology to the public. Join us aboard the 70-foot sailing yacht Chardonnay II, as we sail the waters of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. During our two hour sails, passengers will have the opportunity to view amazing marine animals up close and enjoy detailed discussions of the diverse underwater life in the Monterey Bay. Each sail includes discussions of kelp forest ecosystems, adaptations for animals living in the oceans, and human effects on the sea. Passengers will have the opportunity to touch sea otter fur, taste kelp straight from the ocean, and hear stories of what life is like for marine scientists. Each of our tour guides holds a degree in Biology, bringing stories of their own work and experiences in the ocean.

Whale Watching
Join us in late February, through April for our annual whale watching. Each year, California Gray Whales pass Santa Cruz on one of the longest migrations of any marine mammal. Take the opportunity to see these whales on their migration from their calving lagoons in the warm waters of Baja California, to the nutrient rich waters of Alaska and the Bering Sea. Pacific Life Eco-tour guides provide discussions about marine mammal biology, the ecology of whales and dolphins, and the history of human interactions with these incredible animals.

Educational Community
Pacific Life Eco-tours is a partnership between Chardonnay Sailing Charters, UC Santa Cruz’s Seymour Marine Discovery Center at Long Marine Laboratory, and local non-profit environmental organization Save Our Shores. We intend to promote sharing and cooperation within the marine science and education organizations in the Santa Cruz community.

Seymour Center and Save Our Shores members receive a ten percent discount on all Pacific Life tours. All passengers will receive a two-for-one coupon for admission to the Seymour Marine Discovery Center.

Pacific Life Eco-tours brings people together with the insights of marine science, and the experience of sailing in one of the world’s most incredible natural resources, the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary.
